Helping Empower Haitians to Love and Serve Other Haitians

The Children’s Village is a place of shelter that God has provided where our children can learn, grow and thrive. We officially opened our doors in July 2019 in Croix des Bouquets when we received seven economic orphans. Our Haitian staff works closely with the IBESR (child protective services) in Haiti to receive children that have at least one living parent. They love and care for them, helping to meet spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs as they start the process to restore communication with the family. Our ultimate goal is to reunite families, enriching lives not only of the children but their entire household. Thereby providing Godly foundations which can be shared and encouraged in the home for generations to come.

Family Reunification

We believe God created the nuclear family and desires children to be with their biological parents when possible. LRH has been able to reunify thirteen children to their families, as of 2023. We maintain support for the child and the family by helping with the cost of school and healthcare even after they are reunified. Since our goal is keeping families together, we also help with basic needs (e.g., food, water, cooking oil) when needed.

Education
Give Now

Due to Haiti’s low enrollment and retention rate, we sometimes receive children that have never been to school. For that reason, we identify each child’s current educational ability and work with them at that level. We employ three certified Haitian teachers who patiently and lovingly work with our children teaching and instilling in them the joys of learning. Once they are reunified, LRH continues to pay for their school related expenses until they reach 18 years of age.

Disaster Relief
Give Now

LRH began as a result of the 2010 earthquake when our founders came to Haiti to serve the people of Haiti. The calling on their hearts remains as strong as ever. Today, we continue helping in response to disasters that impact Haiti. In August of 2021 another strong earthquake hit southwestern Haiti. Three days after the earthquake LRH was in Les Cayes meeting with a local church to see how we could help. Due to the generous giving to LRH we were able to help meet basic needs of water, food and shelter.

Water Projects
Give Now

LRH believes clean drinking water should be available to all people. Most homes in Haiti don’t have running water, requiring them to walk long distances to water wells or purchase water. Since our founding in 2017 we have had two deep water wells drilled, one in Croix des Bouquets and one in Canaan. Through Haitian and American volunteers, 100 water filtering systems have been installed in homes. This is only a drop in the bucket since the need for additional water wells and water filtering systems is so great. Please consider giving to help bring clean water to Haitians.

Church Partnerships

With little or no governmental services for the people of Haiti the church remains a vital way for the needs of the community to be met. LRH partners with the local church to help meet both the physical and spiritual needs of Haitians. Our partnership with the local church includes helping to meet physical needs of food and water as well as spiritual needs through pastoral training and VBS. We also partner on construction projects, medical clinics and the installation of water filtering systems. It is a privilege to serve alongside the wonderful people of Haiti to help encourage and empower them to make a difference in their nation.

Haiti in New Orleans

In 2022, LRH started working with a new Haitian church called Connect International Church. It is estimated that New Orleans has 10,000-15,000 Haitians, most of whom live in the West Bank. We are excited about serving Haitians in the New Orleans area.
