A Place Where Economic Orphans Learn, Grow and Thrive
Give to Support Children's VillageEconomic Orphans
Sponsor a ChildHaiti has an estimated 400,000 children who don’t live with their biological parents. There are 30,000 children in orphanages and thousands more roam the streets of Port-au-Prince. Many children are given over to the government, because their families have no financial means to provide the needed care. These children are often referred to as economic orphans. This is where Louisiana Reach Haiti works to make a difference! We believe God created the nuclear family and desires children to be raised in the home with their biological parents when possible.
Reunifying Children
Sponsor a ChildOur Haitian staff works closely with the IBESR (child protective services in Haiti) to receive children that have at least one living parent. We provide a place of love and care as we start the process to restore communication with the family. Our goal is to reunify all of our children, but we recognize that not all economic orphans can be reunified and some situations will require long-term care. Sponsorship will continue after reunification up to the child’s 18th birthday.
Development
Support Children's VillageIn 2016 LRH purchased land in Croix des Bouquets, which would be the future site of the Children’s Village. After purchasing the property, the first thing we were able to accomplish was drilling a water well. This would provide free, clean drinking water for the Children’s Village and the surrounding community. Shortly after, we began the process of building the surrounding wall; guard tower, dormitories, and other needed buildings.
Our Progress
Support Children's VillageIn October, 2018 we were able to celebrate what the Lord had done with a ribbon cutting event, to which we invited the local community and our church partner Pastor Odvald Louis. In June of 2019, we hired our Haitian staff and would soon welcome our first seven boys, all of whom were economic orphans. As of early 2023, we have been able to reunify thirteen children with their families. We currently have 21 children in our care and would love to invite you to join us in our pursuit to restore families in Haiti.
